Roc Nation has made a mighty impact since Jay-Z founded the imprint in 2008, but its reach is about to get bigger, having announced it has now teamed up with Universal Music Group for a worldwide distribution deal.

A press release confirms that Jigga's stable of artists will technically have their upcoming records pushed in all markets via UMG, but Roc Nation will run itself without any interference from the heavyweight enterprise. Jay-Z clarified this in the press release, noting Roc Nation will "continue to operate as an independent label with the strength, power and reach of the best major."

Financial details were not delivered, but the Wall Street Journal elaborated on the business deal, noting that Roc Nation has entered a five-year partnership with Universal. The affiliation comes off the heels of previous deals Roc Nation had with Sony and Atlantic.

As for Hova, this marks his return to Universal, which he left in 2007 before he founded Roc Nation. He reported that "it feels good to be home."
