Published Jul 14, 2009If anyone has doubted Jay-Z's incredible business sense, 2009 has been the year to put all those to rest. Besides some crazy record label shuffling and an enormous Live Nation deal, rumours have it that Hova has now one-upped himself by signing a three-book deal.
According to the New York Observer [via The Daily Swarm], Jay-Z is in the midst of negotiating the book deal with Spiegel & Grau, an imprint of Random House. The books being planned include a memoir, a business book and a book explaining Jay-Z's lyrics.
While the first two are still rumoured, the lyric book is most likely to be happening for sure, say sources close to Jay-Z.
Previously, Jay-Z had prepared to release a similar book of lyrical science called The Black Book to coincide with The Black Album, but cancelled it at the last minute to retain his privacy. Hopefully these books don't see the same fate.
