Jay-Z and Beyoncé Go Vegan for December

Perhaps fitting for someone recently seen, at least in statue form, cuddling up to some Care Bears, rap entrepreneur Jay Z has announced that both he and Beyoncé are going vegan this month.

Jay Z unveiled his dietary decision last night (December 3) in a blog post, noting that he and Bey are keeping meat off their plate until Christmas, following a suggestion from a friend. This experiment follows physiologist Marco Borges's 22 Day Challenge, which theorizes that it takes 21 days to make or break a habit.

"This all began a few months back when a good friend and vegan challenged me to embrace a 'plant-based breakfast' every day. It was surprisingly easier on me than I thought," the rapper wrote of his "spiritual and physical cleanse," adding, "I will post my progress… Any professional vegans out there that have any great food spots please help out! Please ha. I don't know what happens after Christmas. A semi-vegan, a full plant-based diet? Or just a spiritual and physical challenge? We'll see…"

The move lines up with Jay Z's 44th birthday, which is today.

Will the pop world power couple make their lives meatless beyond Christmas, or will they go Grimes and succumb to a couple scoops of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. And if the latter, will contemporaries be ready to chew them out if they do? Foodies and rap fans alike will have to follow Jay Z's blog posts to find out the juicy details.
