Former Zumpano namesake Jason Zumpano recently released an album with his project Cyrillic Typewriter, but that's not the only new music that the busy West Coaster has unveiled in 2012. He also scored the documentary Cartoon College, which is now set to make its Canadian premiere.

The film was co-directed by Josh Melrod and Tara Wray, and it focuses on the lives of a few students attending the Center for Cartoon Studies in Hartford, VT. In addition to profiling these aspiring cartoonists and graphic novelists, the filmmakers interviewed some of the biggest names in the industry and travelled across the U.S. to speak with comic book store owners, fans, critics, academics and others.

Cartoon College premiered at the 2012 Newport Beach Film Festival back in the spring, and this fall will come to the Vancouver International Film Festival, which runs from September 27 to October 12. It will be screened on September 29, October 4 and October 5. Go here for more details and to purchase tickets. Zumpano himself will be at the screenings and available for a Q&A session.

Watch a trailer for the film below. You'll hear some clips of music that are presumably culled from Zumpano's score. The movie also features songs from the likes of Beulah, Archers of Loaf, Tortoise, Tokyo Police Club, and more.

Go to Zumpano's official website to hear a few brief cuts from the score.

The filmmakers promised on Facebook that the film will come to DVD sometime in 2013.
