Jason Morphew Not For the Faint of Heart!

A compelling voice and a keen sense of melody are the strengths Jason Morphew brings to this straightforward album of life in helL.A. Armed with little more than an acoustic guitar on most tracks, Morphew croons and sometimes whines his way through well-trodden territory of broken hearts, dreams, cars and other accessories. Its familiarity is too often a drawback, though. Many of the songs take a narrative path from A to B, and there's simply too little lyrical poetry for their unswerving single-mindedness. But his keen sense of melody is what keeps Morphew from being dreadful in his weaker moments, and at his best, he's certainly better than most. (Ba Da Bing!)
