Jason Molina

"Heart My Heart"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 19, 2012

Jason Molina's health problems have kept him out of the public eye for a few years now, having last appeared on record with his Magnolia Electric Co.'s 2009 set Josephine. Next week, though, the singer-songwriter issues a solo set titled Autumn Bird Songs, which is his first solo effort since 2006. While it hits retailers September 25 through Graveface Records, you can hear the tender acoustic track "Heart My Heart" now down below.

The song is rife with Molina's usual sense of melancholy and has him deliver lines about falling apart in a heartrending vibrato. The song, which was recorded a few years ago, will appear on a 10-inch slab of wax packaged together with an 82-page book of friend William Schaff's artwork. It also includes an introduction written by Mountain Goats' John Darnielle. Autumn Bird Songs is limited to 350 copies.
