Jason Isbell

Siren Of The Ditch

BY Sean PalmerstonPublished Jul 18, 2007

After spending much of the past five years as the co-front-man of the fabulous Drive-By Truckers, guitarist/songwriter Jason Isbell recently left the band to start a solo career. Recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL, Siren Of The Ditch is his first post-Truckers offering and it finds him toning things down a little bit, opting for a more introspective outlook. There is nothing as immediate as "Day John Henry Died” or "Danko/Manuel” but the Stones-y feel of "Brand New Kind Of Actress” and the soulfulness of the piano-driven "Chicago Promenade” show another side of this very talented guitarist that will appeal to DBT fans and should win him some brand new ones as well.
