Jason Collett Brings Basement Revue Series Back to Toronto, Gears Up for Canadian Dates with Bahamas

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 3, 2012

Jason Collett's Basement Revue Series has become an annual tradition in Toronto, so why should 2012 be any different? The Canuck songwriter will be bringing back the guest-heavy concert series for its sixth instalment this December.

The series includes four shows on consecutive Thursdays in December. Three of the nights will be at the Dakota Tavern, although one of the shows (on December 20) is at the Great Hall.

A press release promises that the concerts will feature guest appearances from an "impressive collection of musicians, songwriters, authors, poets, storytellers and friends." Collett won't be announcing the guests until the night-of, and at least some of the guests have participated in past editions of the Basement Revue Series.

The announcement notes that past guests have included Buck 65, Feist, Joe Pernice, Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning, James Shaw (Metric), Julie Doiron, Hayden, Snowblink, Bry Webb, Torquil Campbell (Stars), Al Tuck, Lullabye Arkestra, Chris Murphy, Doug Paisley, Dave Bidini (Rheostatics), John K. Sampson (Weakerthans), Charles Spearin's the Happiness Project, Luke Doucet, Melissa McClelland, the Weather Station, the Abrams Brothers, Todor Kobakov, celebrity chef Michael P. Clive and poets Damien Rogers, Ken Babstock and Kevin Connolly.

We can't confirm, however, which of these artists will be on hand this year.

Tickets are $25 per night (plus service charges) and can be purchased here.

See Collett's full live schedule, which includes plenty of dates across North America and Europe, below. While he will be in Germany playing with Dan Mangan on December 6, the same day the Basement Revue Series gets underway, a guest host will be leading that night's show in Toronto.
