Japandroids

'Near to the Wild Heart of Life' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 19, 2017

Japandroids' long-awaited follow-up to 2012's Celebration Rock finally arrives as Near to the Wild Heart of Life next week, but you can give the Vancouver duo's new album an early listen right now.

We've already heard the title track and "No Known Drink or Drug," and those are joined by six other new cuts that hear Brian King and Dave Prowse veering into more adventurous territory (complete with acoustic guitars and synthesizers).

It's a leap from the straightforward bar rock sound that endeared us to the band in the first place, and you can get acquainted with Japandroids' new sound by giving Near to the Wild Heart of Life a listen in the player below [via NPR].

The new LP is officially out on January 27 through Anti in the States and Arts & Crafts here in Canada. See the band's upcoming tour dates here.
