Published Mar 04, 2009They said they were coming and now they're here: the reunited Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails have announced their co-headlining tour dates. Kicking things off May 8 in Florida, the pair of alt-rock juggernauts will sweep across the U.S. and pop up to Canada to do a single show in Toronto on June 2. And with NIN's Trent Reznor promising this tour will be "much more raw, spontaneous and less scripted" than recent ones- not to mention that he's ready to "disappear for a while" - you may want to crack open that recession-starved piggy bank to get a ticket.
This bit of highly anticipated tour news follows a lot of Jane's/NIN activity in the last few weeks. As previously reported, original Jane's bassist Eric Avery recently rejoined the band, the Jane's Addiction rarities box set A Cabinet of Curiosities is due out April 21, and Reznor has been sharing studio pics of himself with the band.
Up to this point, it hasn't been exactly clear what the NIN man and Jane's Addiction have been doing together in the studio but Jane's guitarist Dave Navarro has confirmed they are recording together.
"Since our reformation, we have been spending a lot of time with Trent in the rehearsal studio and in the recording studio, working on new stuff, addressing some old stuff and more importantly, creating a friendship and working relationship," Navarro explains in a new blog post. "It's rare that touring partners have an opportunity to spend so much time together creatively before a tour. Regardless of the collaborative outcome, our time with Trent has brought forth a new focus and sense of purpose that we plan to share with you on a nightly basis."
So will Reznor be producing a new Jane's album? Well, let's just say they don't seem to be totally ruling that out.
