Ever since their Fabriclive mix came out last year, LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Pat Mahoney have been joined at the hip behind the decks. Sadly, though, they have mostly been dropping their space-out disco/house in their beloved N.Y.C., or at least until now. Dubbing themselves Special Disco Version, the duo have announced they are taking their party across the globe, touching down in Canada along the way for a handful of dates.
As their press release tell us, "Special Disco Version is an old term for a dance interpretation of a pop song, now known as a remix. It was frequently printed on a circular sticker and slapped on the record's sleeve, left for Murphy and Mahoney to discover 30 years later as they plumbed the bins at New York record stores... The fresh blend will rock the party in unprecedented ways, and offer LCD fans a new perspective on the musical roots of their favourite band.
Mr. Murphy himself says, "With SDV, I can keep experimenting with remixes that we're working on, I can keep playing new stuff, and I can keep finding old records, adding "How punk rock is that? Well, that depends on your definition of punk rock.
