The ongoing saga that is James Franco's life and career continues to get stranger with the news that the actor, writer and musician is being sued for headbutting a photographer at a Lana Del Rey concert.

It appears that Franco was overcome with a desire for ultraviolence during Del Rey's set at the Hollywood Forever cemetery in 2014. According to documents obtained by TMZ, photographer David Tonnessen says the actor attacked him without provocation during the set.

Franco apparently charged at Tonnessen and headbutted him in the stomach, knocking him to the ground.

As if this weren't all ridiculous enough, Tonnessen uses some rather colourful language in his legal complaint. The photographer said that Franco was "smiling, rather demonically" before he charged at him with a "blank expression of joy on his face." Look, we all react to Lana Del Rey's music in different ways.

Tonnessen claims he was hospitalized from the alleged attack and apparently suffered permanent injuries. He's suing for medical expenses and other damages.
