James Blake's Dad Has a New Album

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Apr 20, 2017

While the music world knows of James Blake's many accomplishments as an artist, those of his father James Litherland are nothing to sneeze at either. Since beginning his career in 1968, Litherland has worked with the likes of George Martin, John Wetton, Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, Long John Baldry and more.

Now, Litherland has announced a new solo effort in Back 'n Blue, which will arrive on June 9. The record is Litherland's third solo LP, having released 4th Estate and Real Men Cry in 2006. You can pre-order the record and preview its 10 tracks through the man's website here.

Of course, Litherland has also worked with his talented son in a musical capacity, as Blake's "The Wilhelm Scream" is a cover of his father's "Where to Turn" from 4th Estate. Litherland was also a co-founder of '60s prog rockers Colosseum.
