James Blackshaw Lines Up New Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 31, 2012

Prolific composer James Blackshaw has impressed many with the 12-string acoustic guitar skills spread across his many releases. Blackshaw's last LP, 2010's All Is Falling, was followed by the Holly EP in 2011. Since then, he's been uncharacteristically silent, but that will all change when he releases his next album this spring.

The six-song record was inspired in part by the work of science fiction author James Tiptree, Jr., also known as Alice B. Sheldon. The album was recorded in Chicago and will undoubtedly showcase more of Blackshaw's virtuosic playing.

Love Is the Plan, the Plan Is Death will be available on April 24 via Important Records. A song from the Holly EP can be streamed below.

Love Is the Plan, the Plan Is Death:

1. "Love Is the Plan, the Plan Is Death"

2. "Her Smoke Rose Up Forever"

3. "And I Have Come Upon This Place by Lost Ways"

4. "A Momentary Taste of Being"

5. "We Who Stole the Dream"

6. "The Snows Are Melted, the Snows Are Gone"
