It's been a while but thankfully, Converge have announced that they're at work on their eighth studio album. In a recent interview with Brooklyn Vegan, front-man Jake Bannon said, "the record does have a title, as well as song titles, however we are not ready to release them just yet." It was revealed that the album will be recorded in May.
That is pretty much it on that subject but Bannon did go on to discuss the plethora of projects coming from himself and the rest of Converge. Alongside the previously reported new album from Nate Newton's Doomriders, drummer Ben Koller is at work on an album from his new band Acid Tiger, while Kurt Ballou will continue to slave away at his God City Studio, working with "secret bands/projects with great members."
Bannon has two projects on the go. For starters, he will finally release Wear Your Wounds, his debut solo full-length sometime this year. The album will follow his excellent, atmospheric Blood Of Thine Enemies seven-inch. Of the project, Bannon said, "The material is more refined than other musical projects I've done. It has a good amount of variation and dynamics in it. [It's] Hard for me to describe any more than that."
He's also at work on a new experimental project with Dwid Hellion for hardcore crew Integrity and contemporary artist Stephen Kasner. Known as Irons, the band will be releasing a split twelve-inch with Pulling Teeth later this year.
