Jack White's Third Man Records Launches Blues Reissue Series with Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks

Not only is Jack White using his Third Man Records imprint to re-release his own back catalogue works, he's confirmed plans to reissue and remaster a series of vintage recordings from some classic blues artists.

The first artists in the series — which is co-presented with Document Records — will be early blues acts Charley Patton, Blind Willie McTell and the Mississippi Sheiks. Each of the records will be called The Complete Recorded Works in Chronological Order, meaning that these releases will aim to collect all of the artists' respective recordings.

The first volumes in the series are available to pre-order from Third Man's store and will be released on January 29. At the bottom of the page, you can see what the records look like in the teaser video, which features a voiceover from White. As you can see, all three records are pressed on brightly coloured wax.

In an announcement, Third Man promised that more reissues will follow shortly. The label wrote, "Subsequent volumes will be released regularly and new artists will be slotted for release from this fantastic catalog of blues greats as soon as this first series is complete."

Third Man's collaboration with Document has been in the works for some time now, as White has been talking about the plan since last January.
