It's officially the end of summer holidays. While the season technically extends to September 22, students are returning to their schools and the weather is beginning to cool. Whether you're a learner looking to have one last bash for the break or an adult cheering for the decrease of young hellions running around, there are plenty of concerts during the week of August 28 to September 3 to pump you up. If our Can't Miss Concerts picks this week just don't do it for you, head to our complete Concert Listings to find what you're looking for.

Arcade Fire

The latest run of their lengthy tour in support of Reflektor finds Arcade Fire performing a new cover every single different night. If that's not enough reason to convince you to go, both the Toronto and Montreal shows will feature performances by Constantines in Toronto, Spoon in Montreal, and Dan Deacon in both cities.

08/29 Toronto, ON – The Molson Canadian Amphitheatre
08/30 Montreal, QC – Parc Jean Drapeau

Emerging Music Festival

Emerging Music Festival revealed its first dozen artists back in May, including Daniel Belanger, Slaves on Dope, Jimmy Hunt and more. Since then, it's snowballed to include our August cover star Rich Aucoin, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, Owen Pallett, Misery Index, Ought and more. Oh, and many of the shows are free.

08/28-31 Rouyn-Noranda, QC – Abitibi- Témiscamingue

Festival of Good Things

Calling yourself Festival of Good Things fulfills its promise with Gord Downie, the Sadies, the Conquering Sun, Library Voices, Molly Thomason and Craig Cardiff. An additional free show from Woodshed Orchestra, Kashka, Serf Kanata and more only sweetens the deal, as does the booze from local breweries.

08/30 Sarnia, ON – Sarnia Bay Marina

Jack White

Jack White's two latest Canadian shows (in Montreal and Toronto) have both been spectacles. The former White Stripe holds a few world records, including highest sales of a vinyl record in its first week (in the SoundScan era) and the world's fastest released record, so you never know if he might bust out something crazy at one of his upcoming shows, like, say, a Jay Z cover or bizarre faux-disease-ridden performance.

08/28 Burnaby, BC – Deer Lake Park
08/30 Calgary, AB – Fort Calgary (X-Fest)
08/31 Edmonton, AB – Northlands Park (Sonic Boom Festival)

Slint

The sporadically active post-rockers Slint only have one Canadian show on their current tour. As long as nothing's changed since they first reformed, fans can expect a killer performance from these residents of Spiderland.

08/29 Vancouver, BC – The Rickshaw Theatre

Sonic Boom Festival

Sonic Boom Festival will hit Edmonton this weekend. The line-up features notables like Jack White, Rise Against, the New Pornographers, Mounties and the Descendents among many others.

08/29-31 Edmonton, AB – Northlands Park

X-Fest

This ain't your average Labour Day weekend; it's an X weekend, thanks to X-Fest. However, the holiday, which serves as a marker for the end of summer holidays, will give the students, and others, one last hurrah on their break (be it a multitude of months or simply a few days), with help from Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Death Cab for Cutie, a reunited the Smalls, Cage the Elephant, July Talk and many more.

08/30-31 Calgary, AB – Fort Calgary
