Greta Van Fleet have caught a lot of flack during their time in the spotlight, but they've also won over at least one very notable fan: Jack White, who had some nice things to say about the retro-rock group during a recent interview.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, White was asked about Greta Van Fleet, and here's what he had to say: "It's exciting to see young people play rock'n'roll, no doubt about it. That guy has a very cool voice. The more he makes it his own, the better. People used to say, when I first came out, 'He sounds like Robert Plant.' If you keep pushing forward, that shit goes away."

White also doled out kind words for some other contemporary rock bands, as he said, "It's also great that people still appreciate a band that writes songs like Vampire Weekend and Twenty One Pilots. It's just really great songwriting."

When asked to expand on his praise of Twenty One Pilots, he said, "I love what they're doing. First time I saw them was on Saturday Night Live. And I thought 'Oh, that's really great. Another really cool two-piece band that can do something really powerful.'"

Continuing the rather uncharacteristic streak of positivity, White also praised Lil Nas X's hit "Old Town Road," Royal Blood, the Hives and the Black Keys. And even though he's had some personal differences with the Black Keys in the past, White clarified that he's friendly with drummer Patrick Carney, who even stopped by the studio and loaned him a microphone while he was recording the latest Raconteurs album.

The Raconteurs will be on the road throughout the summer and fall in support of their solid new album Help Us Stranger. Check out their tour dates here.
