Jack White Emerges with Surprise New Single "Battle Cry"

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Apr 7, 2017

Out of nowhere, Jack White has emerged with a new single. It's called "Battle Cry," and you can hear it now.

As you'll hear, the track doesn't seem to come with any vocals from White, but features a series of chants, often of a very First Nations variety. Along with that, we get some searing guitar work, thumping rhythms and hand claps.

It's unclear at this point if "Battle Cry" is a one-off or part of a larger project, but dig in below.

White's last proper album was 2014's Lazaretto.

UPDATE (4/7, 11:15 a.m. EDT): It turns out that "Battle Cry" is a jingle for Warstic, a sporting goods company that White co-owns. Labelled as the "Official Warstic Anthem," it's featured in a new commercial spot for the company, and you can watch that at the bottom of the page.

If you'd like to own the jingle on vinyl, you can pick it up on 7-inch via Third Man as part of the upcoming Record Store Day on April 22.
