"The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me"

Jack White has spoken out after learning a venue staffer stopped two women from kissing in the audience at his Edmonton show on November 2.

In addition to addressing the incident onstage the next night during his Calgary show on November 3 and dedicating "Love Interruption" to the pair of women, he has now taken to Instagram to denounce the homophobic behaviour.

White shared a photo of two women kissing in the audience at a Beatles concert in 1964, praising "how beautiful the situation is."

"Its 2018 now and two people expressing affection shouldn't have to hide," he continued. "The news that two women were stopped from kissing during my show in Edmonton really disappointed me."

White also revealed that he encouraged everyone in the audience to kiss their loved ones during the Calgary performance of "Love Interruption."

He ended by saying, "Let's promote love and acceptance wherever and whenever we can."
