Jack White

Live at SXSW (video)

The South by Southwest music festival is currently running full force in Austin, but with so many acts crammed onto one strip, sometimes even the biggest names can't squeeze their way onto a proper club stage. Enter Third Man Records' Rolling Record Store. Anchored by a performance from label head, ex-White Stripe and current Raconteur/Dead Weather man Jack White, the bus just plum pulled up off onto the side of the strip and started wailing out some tunes.

White teased the Texas crowd with a rollicking acoustic cover of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away," as well as a version of early White Stripes hit "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground," before letting new Third Man signee Seasick Steve take to the streets with some rip-roaring, dirty blues slide guitar. Not bad for a free gig. Not bad at all.
