Jack White is one of the most widely celebrated guitar heroes of his generation, known for both his heroic solos and his raw, unpolished energy. Now, White is passing the baton by naming his new favourite guitarist — Yoyoyoshie of Japanese punk band Otoboke Beaver.
On Instagram, White posted a photo with a couple of members of Otoboke Beaver, who stopped by Third Man Records' Nashville facility (and evidently bought the White Stripes' Funko Pop!).
He captioned the photo, "Nothing fake about these folks. Yoyoyoshie is my new favorite guitar player. If you're coming up against an ambush, you want her in your battalion."
Founded in 2009 in Kyoto, Otoboke Beaver have spent the last few weeks touring North America, and played Canadian shows in Toronto and Montreal just last week. Their latest album is 2022's Super Champon.
