J. Geils Dead at 71
John Warren Geils Jr., best known as the guitarist, leader and namesake of the J. Geils Band, has reportedly died at the age of 71.

According to WCVB TV Boston, police found Geils unresponsive in his Groton, Massachusetts home around 4 p.m. local time earlier today (April 11). Foul play was not suspected.

The group are best known for their massively popular pop song "Centerfold," which was No. 1 for six weeks.

The J. Geils Band released 11 studio albums in total before breaking up in 1985. Since then, they sporadically reunited here and there. Geils also released solo albums under the name Jay Geils.
