Motion In Mind

In a follow-up to the glistening IDM breaks of his debut, Wake-Up Time, Iuengliss (aka Denver-based musician Tom Metz) reaches past merely accessible IDM to epic ambient pop. Motion In Mind's sweeping melodies, glacial synths and fractured rhythms are set against metallic tones and shoegazing soundscapes. The digital grandeur creates a visceral experience, and both longing and joyful melodies meld easily into the broken, glitch-heavy beats. The latter, in fact, work as a striking undercurrent to what ultimately amounts to a collection of soaring, hypnotic IDM serenades. In Iuengliss's undeviating sonic palate all the industrial staccato becomes no more than mere lace and edge, and the sum of all the parts is a perfect backdrop to his yearning vocals.
