Islands Set Vapours for September 22 Release, Announce Free Toronto Show

As already reported, Islands have recently been hard at work on their latest "master(piece)," Vapours. Now, we're happy to relay the news that the record is officially done and heading our way on September 22 via Anti-.

This follow-up to last year's Arm's Way was produced by front-man Nick Thorburn, who got some help from Yeah Yeah Yeahs/TV on the Radio boardsman Chris Coady, and was sequenced and mastered at New York City's esteemed Sterling Sound. According to the Pitchfork folks, Vapours also marks the return of Thorburn's old Unicorn cohort Jamie Thompson (aka J'aime Tambeur), who was on Islands' 2006 debut Return to the Sea but skipped out on the last record.

There's no tracklisting yet for Vapours, but apparently Thorburn is pretty pumped about now being label-mates with Os Mutantes.

By the way, if you're in the greater Toronto area on June 27, Islands will be playing a free outdoor show as part of the of Pride Fest. The show begins at 11 p.m. sharp and is taking place at the corner of Church and Wood streets.
