Isaac Brock Says Krist Novoselic Will Appear on New Modest Mouse LP in 2016
Pacific Northwest indie survivors Modest Mouse made fans wait eight years before recently releasing their new album Strangers to Ourselves. As previously reported, the group are planning to follow it up with a companion album. Now, frontman Isaac Brock has dropped some more information about the release.

Speaking with Hot Press [via Consequence of Sound], Brock explained that the album will be released around this time next year. "I was mindful of that this time," he said. "I went in with a plan."

He also said he was considering the a misspelling of the word "whatever" as the album's title, thinking of calling it Whabever "mainly to be antagonistic."

"I thought, 'okay, I always put out these long fucking titles, and I wanna not do that,'" he added. "And so I came up with this cover art which Epic were like 'you could do that but we can't sell that anywhere.'"

Aside from his potential trolling antics, Brock explained that the album will also feature the band's much-hyped collaboration with Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, which didn't make the cut for Strangers to Ourselves.

"You'd recognize it," Brock said of their collaboration. "It sounds like a bunch of boulders falling down a mountain."

He added that both albums were recorded in unison. "Which, if people look at it that way, cuts down the amount of time it took us to make this record in HALF, man," Brock said.

If he's too believed, we'll be hearing a new Modest Mouse album — possibly called Whabever — next spring.
