We've reported on our fair share of plagiarism debates in recent months, with accused parties including Nick Cave and Wyclef Jean. None of those cases are quite as strange as this latest one, however, in which Usher allegedly ripped off a song sung by Homer Simpson.
The Usher track in question is the single "OMG," which came out back in the spring. As The Y101 Morning Showgram [via New York Magazine] noticed, it sounds distinctly similar to a song that appeared in a 2003 episode of The Simpsons entitled, "Dude, Where's My Ranch?"
Click on the video below to hear a mashup of the two tracks. We're not sure this one will fly in court (should the Simpsons creators decide to take legal action), but there's no denying that the hook is pretty much the same.
"OMG" was a number one smash around the world. It was written and produced by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, who is already wrapped up in multiple plagiarism cases. Hmmm…suspicious.
