Iron Maiden's Ed Force One Immortalized with Model Plane Kit

Iron Maiden are currently in the middle of a world tour supporting The Book of Souls, with Bruce Dickinson piloting the band's famed Ed Force One 747 to various stops. Odds are you'll never get to soar through the skies with the heavy metal icons, but you soon will be able to grab a miniaturized replica of their plane.

Licensing.biz reports that plastic model manufacturer Revell has teamed up with Global Merchandising Services to deliver a 1:144 scale model of Ed Force One, which will be released sometime in 2016. GMS currently produce a number of items for the band, including T-shirts, skateboards and other assorted ephemera.

"As soon as we knew that Bruce would be piloting the plane for Iron Maiden's world tour, we knew that we had to do something special to celebrate the occasion, and Revell are an obvious partner for this fantastic collaboration," Global Merchandising Services licensing manager Jens Drinkwater said in a statement.

If you're the kind of Iron Maiden fan who chooses to unbox a Somewhere in Time-era figurine of Eddie, you're probably already salivating at the thought of straddling that guy on top of your miniature Ed Force One while softly singing "Aces High" or "Speed of Light" to no one in particular.

In an interesting twist, a recent accident in Chile sidelined Ed Force One temporarily, but the band had the planes's port side jet engines replaced last week before heading to North America.

As previously reported, Iron Maiden's "The Book of Souls Tour" started earlier this year. The band play Montreal, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver starting Friday (April 1). You can see the upcoming North American dates below.
