Interstllr

On this hypnotic EP, Interstllr consistently sound like they're scoring an airy dream sequence that's pleasant enough, but intangible and as vague as a memory. Sleepy and striking, vocalist Koko Bonaparte conjures something fantastical and trippy on virtually every song, emoting evenly about ghostly figures and haunted circumstances. "Your Name" best exemplifies the surreal mood, but there's philosophical questioning going on, quite literally on "Is There Thunder," a cerebral club jam. Bonparte has the perfect partner in skilled producer/DJ MadaM, who injects the project with skittering hip-hop flavours that push certain songs, like the set's highlight, "Love Sit Down," in interesting, memorable directions. Dazed and revelling in life's confusion, Interstllr are onto something intriguing.
