The Darcys

'An Interpretation Of Steely Dan's Aja' (documentary)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 8, 2013

It's been more than a year since the Darcys released Aja, their full-album interpretation of the Steely Dan classic of the same name. Now, the group have taken a look back on that project with a nine-minute mini-documentary.

The black and white clip contains interview footage with the band members reflecting on Steely Dan's album and discussing how and why they decided to cover the entire thing. The making-of clip builds towards a live concert, when the Darcys performed Aja in full at Lee's Palace in Toronto on November 11, 2012. The second half of the documentary consists of this live footage and music.

The mini-doc was produced and directed by Adrian Vieni. Watch it below, and as an added bonus, check out a live version of the band's interpretation of "Peg" from that same show at Lee's at the bottom of the page.
