Interpol's Paul Banks Becomes Julian Plenti, Preps Solo Album

BY Brock ThiessenPublished May 6, 2009

While Interpol may have promised a new album before year's end, front-man Paul Banks has revealed he also has plans for a new solo effort. Under the name Julian Plenti, Banks will release Julian Plenti Is... Skyscraper this summer via Interpol's old indie label home of Matador Records.

So far there aren't many details about this release under the Julian Plenti banner, which Banks has used off and on over the years. All we know at this point is that the record is due out August 4, features some tracks that are over a decade old and is "cocky" and "sexy," according to Billboard.

And while that's all there is to report so far, you can hear a snippet of the album over here on the Julian Plenti website.
