Interpol

"Roland" (demo)

While somewhat gloomy New York rockers Interpol are in the midst of prepping a new album, they also have a 10th anniversary edition of debut LP Turn on the Bright Lights arriving December 4 through Matador. The two-disc set packages the album with a bunch of rarities, and you can check out one of those extras, the band's first demo for "Roland," now.

The punchy cut doesn't differ too much in its incubation stage, to be honest, though it does play a bit slower and features less guitar fuzz than its successor. You also get a round of "dum-dum-dums" from guitarist/vocalist Paul Banks in the back end.

You can download the early version, which was issued on the troupe's 1998 demo, here.
