The (International) Noise Conspiracy

A New Morning, Changing Weather

BY Stuart GreenPublished Nov 1, 2001

On the long-awaited follow up to their cult hit debut, the politically astute de rigeur Swedish retro-garage popsters fill out their thin sound with a beefier bottom end while retaining the minimalist no wave energy they're known for, which also makes their live sets always entertaining. Still very much inspired by the mod-isms of '60s Britpop, they've also put the almost two years of solid touring to use with songs that are more creative in their presentation and structure and a little less campy - recalling at times the frenetic prog-punk of Refused, vocalist Dennis's previous band. With A New Morning..., the threat of the (International) Noise Conspiracy being dismissed as a well-dressed novelty act has been completely eliminated.
