Infinessence Travelogues From The Ambient Continuum

The latest compilation from Interchill Records isn’t quite ambient, rather I would call the tracks on Infinessence down-tempo. Every song on this album has a strong rhythmic structure seasoned with new age, acid jazz, world beat and light techno flavourings. Two tracks that stand out the most are “Wedding Song,” by New Zealand-based Aspen, and “Ambrosia,” by Toronto’s Legion of Green Men, as these tracks have a strong intelligent techno root that is evident in the skilful programming. The feel of the album is warm, specifically designed to put the listener at ease. The album makes for ideal studying or lounging, though I suspect many college and university dorms would play this CD after hours to mask the sound of creaking beds and muffled sighs. (Interchill)
