The fusion of reggae and electronic is the sound of the moment and it has as many labels (rootstronic, island EDM, to name a few) as interpretations. For their third LP, West Coasters Indubious link up with dub impresario Gaudi in order to ride the sound for all it's worth. The 11-track Wake The Lion run the gamut of sounds: dub, positive roots reggae and a splash of prog rock, for good measure. The title track has a definite Damian Marley vibe mixed in with its electronic sensibilities. Mid-tempo grinder "Take You for a Ride" has that slow-mo head nod groove, "Babylon No Bless" slows things down with an acoustic bent and "Seventh Generation" is a clear standout. "Bright Day" and "Jammy" knock the grade down a bit — utilizing lyrics like "redonkulous" and all that — but Wake The Lion is a pleasant diversion that makes you wonder when they're next in town.
