Indians Announce 4AD Debut 'Somewhere Else'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 15, 2012

Copenhagen folkster Indians (aka Søren Løkke Juul) issued a few online demos earlier this year that ended up getting him signed to acclaimed indie label 4AD, and the singer-songwriter is now ready to unveil some full-fledged studio recordings via his debut LP, Somewhere Else. The album is set to arrive January 29 in North America and a day earlier in the UK.

A press release for the record explains that it was recorded in a countryside studio just outside of Copenhagen, and it's described as "a highly personal document that's equal parts melancholic lament and hopeful stargazing." Sonically, it's said to evoke "the vastness of the Scandinavia landscape" as much as it does artists like the Flaming Lips and the Radio Dept.

While a proper tracklisting has yet to appear, you can peep the geometric artwork up above and stream or download acoustic strummer "Cakelakers" down below. The song will also appear on a limited edition 7-inch that will host a live version of "I Am Haunted," which originally appeared on a recent 4AD Session, on the flip. It's due sometime in November.

Juul and his backup band will also be touring throughout the fall, with dates lined up across North America with Other Lives. If you wanted to check them out in Canada, both acts will hit up Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal in the course of the next month. You can check out the details down below.
