Four years removed from exploring Aerotropolis, Hyperdub producer Ikonika (a.k.a. Sara Abdel-Hamid) has lifted the curtain on a follow-up LP. Titled Distractions, the LP touches down through the revered electronic label on June 2.
According to the label, the record's title is itself an answer to why a follow-up to Aerotropolis has taken so long. Distractions is said to draw on a wider variety of styles than Ikonika's previous work, describing the 13-track collection as a "mix of futuristic and industrious with a touch of gentle glamour."
Guest features come from Canadian Jessy Lanza, Andrea Galaxy, MC Jammz and Sweyn Jupiter. Ikonik has also shared album cut "Manual Decapitation," marked by arpeggiated synths, bell hits and smooth, electronic bass.
