IKEA Rejects Kanye West Collaboration

Rapper, producer and pop culture mainstay Kanye West is on a collaborative tear lately, most recently plotting an album with Drake. While most people would jump at the opportunity to collaborate with rap's biggest figure, however, one company has shown disinterest in the artist. We're talking, of course, about the cheap fro-yo and furniture merchants at IKEA.

The Swedish dorm room mainstays were recently shouted out in a Kanye interview with Annie Mac, where the rapper revealed that he'd love to design furniture in a collaboration.

Taking a break from drawing some frustratingly confusing instructional cartoons, IKEA found time to release a statement about Kanye's request to CNBC. It reads as follows:

At IKEA we are constantly curious about different people, companies, artists and events around the world. To have these connections and inspiring meetings is an important way for us to find new ways to create a better everyday life for the many people. Although we are really flattered by Kanye West's high interest in IKEA and the speculation around a joint venture, we have no plans to collaborate at this point in time.

In other words, it looks like Kanye won't be scribbling out bed designs for IKEA any time soon. That said, we'd love it if this inspired an IKEA diss track. After all, products like "dombås," "fartfull" and "stenklöver" are just begging to be referenced in song.
