Published Oct 12, 2010New York-based photographer Andrew Zuckerman has developed a one-of-a-kind sensibility through his previous books Wisdom and Creature. Now, the artist has turned to our favourite subject for a new book called Music, which will see him explore performance and creation with a sprawling cast of musicians across the board.
The book is made up of portraits from a cast of musicians across genres and eras, including Laurie Anderson, Fiona Apple, Afrika Bambaataa, Dave Brubeck, Common, Billy Corgan, David Crosby, Ani DiFranco, Ben Gibbard, Philip Glass, Herbie Hancock, Karen O, Lenny Kravitz, Ziggy Marley, Ozzy Osbourne, Yoko Ono, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Ravi Shankar and John Williams, among many others.
As a press release explains, during the photo shoots the musicians were "interviewed on film about the process of making music, the power of music, and the experience of writing, producing, and performing." The filmed portion will be available as a free download with purchase of the book.
Zuckerman tweeted that Music will be available in mid-October. A pre-order is available now through Abrams Books.
