Idlers Bring "Genre-Bending Musical Carnival" on Cross-Canada Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 3, 2011

If you think you know Maritimes East Coast music, prepare to have your expectations confounded. Idlers are a reggae/ska collective from St. John's, NL with a horn-heavy lineup that features 11 musical members, plus an artist. In early 2011, the group will be heading out on a lengthy cross-Canada tour.

It's an impressive jaunt, lasting from February all the way up until early April. There are 22 shows in total, which range from coast to coast. The majority of the dates are in British Columbia and Ontario, but there are also select Alberta and Maritimes shows.

In a press release, saxophonist Chris Harnett said, "Training for this tour is all about refining our presentation. The show that we're taking on the road is groover, harder-hitting and more engaging than anything we've presented in the past." The release also goes on to to add that the Idlers' show is "genre-bending musical carnival."

Experience the spectacle at one of the dates listed below. In the interest of full disclosure, Exclaim! is sponsoring the tour.
