Toronto's Iconic El Mocambo Palm Tree Sign for Sale on eBay

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 22, 2014

Beloved Toronto music venue the El Mocambo will sadly shutter its doors next month, but a piece of the venue and Toronto's musical history will live on.

The trademark neon palm tree sign that hung outside the venue is up for sale on eBay, with bids set to close on October 31. The current high bid is resting at $7,500 — though owning the gaudy Toronto relic would be truly priceless for any local music fan.

As previously reported, owner Sam Grosso put the Spadina Avenue club up for sale earlier this year. It conditionally sold and will close after a final blowout show on November 6.

The venue attained legendary status over the years, hosting acts like the Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, U2, the Ramones and many more before falling on financial hardship.

If you want to show your support or just have a soft spot for tacky palm tree signs, head over here to bid.
