Iceberg Ferg to Deliver Vinyl Edition of 'In the Valley of the Purple Prince'

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 21, 2016

Following its February digital release date, BC folkie Iceberg Ferg (a.k.a. Fergus MacConnell) is putting the finger-picked sounds of his fourth full-length, In the Valley of the Prince, on vinyl. A limited wax edition of the album arrives October 14 through Triple Crown Audio.

Recorded at Saltspring, BC studio the Dispensary by his brother, Slam Dunk member Duncan MacConnell, In the Valley of the Prince follows 2015's Waiting On. A press release notes this latest 14-song collection of folk, country and psych sounds is delivered with "precision, passion and a special grace." Most of these are originals, though the In the Valley of the Prince also includes a cover of Johnnie & Jack's 1951 number "Ashes of Love."

In addition to Iceberg Ferg's guitar playing and vocals, the album features performances from friends Shawn Trail, Chris Newman, Robert DiNinno, Jacqueline Tevlin and Alicia McDaid.

The vinyl release is being delivered in a small press "cut from high resolution audio via Direct Metal Mastering." It's being housed in a "heavy duty" sleeve, which comes with "a scrap piece of paper, great for note taking, and downloading."
