Ian MacKaye Officially "Still Alive"

BY Cam LindsayPublished Oct 3, 2007

Ian Mackaye is not dead. The rumour mills have been churning reports online announcing that the 45-year-old co-founder of Dischord Records, Minor Threat and Fugazi, among other bands, died Monday night (October 1) in Baltimore's St. Agnes Hospital. However, BaltimoreSun.com has confirmed that the harDCore hero is indeed alive and kicking. "I am still alive," answered MacKaye over the phone from his home in Arlington, VA. "I am happy to report that I am not dead," he continued, before explaining how the Dischord office has been bombarded with calls ever since the gossip began thanks to an entry on Wikipedia and MySpace pages - both of which have now been removed. A post titled "Don't Believe the Hype" on the Dischord Records homepage reads: "Contrary to what you may have heard, Ian MacKaye is fine and well."
