Canadian guitar rock icon Ian Blurton has already led a storied career, from fronting bands such as Change of Heart, Blurtonia and C'mon to production work for the Weakerthans, Cursed, Amy Millan and many others. Now, Blurton is adding solo artist to his resume with a new album called Happy Endings.

The album is made up of tracks that Blurton has been experimenting with over the last few years and ranges from everything from psych and folk to dub and pop. And solo record or not, Blurton did manage to wrangle some of his friends to help with the recording process. The record includes guest spots from Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew, City and Colour/Raising the Fawn's Scott Remila and former Danko Jones drummer Damon Richardson, among others.

Blurton has self-released Happy Endings for now, while weighing options for a wider release in the future. He'll also be testing out the material on the road, with a string of tour dates in Ontario and Quebec. In fact, tonight (November 25) Blurton plays Toronto.

 Tour dates:

11/25 Toronto, ON - The Dakota Tavern

12/3 Montreal, QC - The Green Room

12/4 Kingston, ON - The Toucan

12/16 Guelph, ON - E-Bar
