I Am Robot and Proud Returns with 'Light and Waves'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 4, 2015

Toronto artist Shaw-Han Liem has been releasing electronic music under the name I Am Robot and Proud since around the turn of the millennium, and now he is prepping another new album. Light and Waves will be out soon on Darla Records.

The album will arrive on September 18 on CD and digital download. The vinyl will follow on November 20.

It was recorded in Toronto, with Liem — who is also a videogame designer — creating his own software to help him create and manipulate sounds.

"As a programmer and designer, I have become very interested in creating new tools for making my own music," he said in a statement. "I'm really inspired by the idea of an 'engineer/artist' who can use technology to create new tools, and then use those tools to create a new kinds of work — whether that be musical, visual or interactive." Two of the songs, on the other hand, are live arrangements with a full band.
