Published Jul 11, 2013While Nashville may be known for their thriving country scene, the Howlin' Brothers are assets to the city's notable, yet relatively unheralded, bluegrass community. From their old-timey hats and garb to their fun country tunes driven by banjo, harmonica, and upright bass, the trio lives and breathes the old-timey bluegrass spirit.
While they may not actually be related by blood, there was a definite brotherly vibe when we met up with them during their sound check at Toronto's Dakota Tavern. The three took us on a journey with "Gone," from new album Howl, a simple and enjoyable number featuring soulful lyrics and fun shouting amidst the instrumentation.
Watch the performance below and catch the Howlin' Brothers playing the Winnipeg Folk Festival on July 12-14 before setting out on a lengthy tour of the US.
