Hot Ice

"Theme From <i>Friday the 13th Part 3</i>"

Today was a tough call: celebrate tomorrow's big lovefest with a Valentine-friendly ballad or acknowledge a spooky day that comes every so often? Well, considering there's a Friday the 13th remake opening in cinemas today, I felt my inspiration was obvious. It also gave me an opportunity to feature one of my all-time favourite soundtracks: Friday the 13th Part 3.

Often written off as either a schlocky, inferior sequel or "the one that went 3-D," the franchise's second sequel always stuck with me because of its brilliant theme song. Harry Manfredini and Michael Zager's slice of fromage was brought to life by a band called Hot Ice that in an act of complete irrelevance, chose to put a heavily dated disco spin on it, complete with spooky, elevating synthesizers and the mandatory signature "chi, chi, chi, ha, ha, ha" sample.

And for some added fun, I've included a list that MTV compiled choosing the franchise's best kills, most of which I agree with.
