Mariah Scary and the Ghoulish Cauldrons are a Halloween-themed holiday band, but with a twist: band members Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Mounties) and Cary Pratt (Prairie Cat) don't actually write any songs about Halloween. Rather, they write songs all the holidays except Halloween. Their debut single is "Spooky Christmas," and it's out now through Light Organ Records.

"Spooky Christmas" is a bouncy, keyboard-driven pop-rock song of the variety that Bays and Pratt do so well. It's a comically spooky Christmas anthem, with lyrics about Satanic pacts and stockings filled with severed feet.

The accompanying video shows the musicians dancing around a graveyard wearing gothic makeup while ghoulish hands play piano and a clown puppet looks extremely scary. There is some snow CGI and a shot of Santa going down the chimney, but it's mostly a whole lot more "Spooky" than "Christmas."

Check out the video below. Mariah Scary and the Ghoulish Cauldrons apparently have more horror-themed holiday songs in the works.
