Hot Chip/LCD Soundsystem Offshoot New Build Unveil Debut LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jan 24, 2012

Hot Chip/LCD Soundsystem side-project New Build made their debut with a twelve-inch single late last year, and the band haven't wasted any time in lining up their first full-length. Entitled Yesterday Was Lived & Lost, it will be out on March 5 in the UK via the outfit's own Lanark Recordings.

UPDATE: The album will arrive in North American on April 3.

The album from Al Doyle (Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem), Felix Martin (Hot Chip) and studio engineer Tom Hopkins includes the past single "Misery Loves Company," plus the song "Finding Reasons," which previously received a Planningtorock remix.

FACT notes that Planningtorock's Janine Rostron contributes vocals to the 12-track collection, which melds techno and house influences with "the eccentricities of artists such as the Human League, Peter Gabriel, Robert Wyatt, Chris & Cosey, Cabaret Voltaire and Eno." The record will be available digitally, and on CD and vinyl.

The album cut "Do You Not Feel Loved?" will soon be issued on a twelve-inch single, which comes with remixes by Dominik Eulberg and Juju & Jordash, plus the original version. Listen to all three tracks at the bottom of the page and pre-order a copy right here.

Also, look for New Build to tour this spring as an eight-piece.
