Published Nov 11, 2011Just a few weeks ago, Hot Chip's Joe Goddard announced that he would be releasing an album with his project 2 Bears. Now, his Hot Chip allies Al Doyle (who also played in LCD Soundsystem) and Felix Martin have followed suit and started a band of their own with studio engineer Tom Hopkins. The London-based group is called New Build.
As FACT reports, New Build have been working with another former LCD cohort, drummer Pat Mahoney, although he is not an official member.
Considering the resumes of the players, it's not too much of a surprise that New Build specialize in electro-tinged, '80s-indebted dance pop. At the bottom of the page, you can sample the songs "Misery Loves Company" and "Guitar Man," plus a remix of the track "Finding Reasons" by Planningtorock.
These three tracks will appear on a twelve-inch vinyl single that will come out in an edition of 500 through the band's own newly minted label Lanark Recordings. This is apparently the first of a series of twelve-inches that they will release through the imprint.
You can order a copy of Misery Loves Company from Bandcamp.
